Background

Place des Énergies is the B2B subsidiary of the Selectra group, specializing in business electricity and gas contracts. Since 2013, the firm has supported more than 15,000 companies across France: very small businesses, single and multi-site SMEs, mid-sized companies, tradespeople and condominiums.

The firm handles its clients' energy topics end to end:

  • audit of energy contracts and bills
  • supplier tenders and negotiation
  • tax optimization, including electricity tax exemptions depending on the business activity
  • ongoing bill monitoring to spot savings.

With volatile energy prices, many companies do not know whether their contract is right for them or whether they qualify for a tax reduction. Place des Énergies wanted to structure its B2B prospecting to reach more of the business owners and finance directors concerned.

Objective

The goal of the partnership with Oliverlist was to book meetings with the decision-makers who manage energy contracts, in industrial SMEs as well as service companies.

The priorities were to:

  • book meetings with business owners, finance directors and site managers
  • target companies where energy is a significant cost, with industry as the priority
  • position Place des Énergies as an expert able to cut the energy bill without changing how the company works

Target audience

The prospecting strategy focused on the profiles who sign or monitor energy contracts:

  • SME owners and managing directors
  • Chief financial officers
  • General services managers
  • Operations and technical directors
  • HSE managers and site managers

Target organizations included:

  • industrial SMEs with 10 to 500 employees
  • non-industrial service companies
  • hotels, restaurants and campsites
  • real estate asset and property managers

What we put in place

Region-by-region launch

Oliverlist first launched campaigns by territory (Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille, Nantes, Toulouse, Tours, Vendée, Hauts-de-France), then extended the best-performing audiences to all of France.

Targeting by role and sector

Each function (management, finance, general services, operations, HSE) received a dedicated message, with specific campaigns for industry and for hotels and restaurants.

Multichannel prospecting

We rolled out campaigns combining:

  • outbound email
  • cold calling
  • automated follow-up sequences

to multiply touchpoints with decision-makers.

Messaging focused on savings and tax

The messages highlighted:

  • electricity taxes from which some activities can be exempted
  • renegotiation of electricity and gas contracts
  • the backing of a well-known group like Selectra.

Continuous optimization

The campaigns were continuously fine-tuned to improve:

  • response rates
  • the quality of the leads generated
  • conversion into qualified sales meetings.
